अंधविश्वास की परिभाषा :-
अंधविश्वास, किसी व्यक्ति या प्राणी द्वारा किसी व्यक्ति, वस्तु, स्थान, प्राणी, घटना, विचार धारा या परिस्थिति के विषय में किसी भी मत, विचार, सोच, परम्परा या विश्वास की संगतता, उपयोगिता, तथ्यात्मकता, वस्तुनिष्ठता एवं सोद्देश्यता के अभाव एवं उनकी अप्रमाणिकता तथा अवैज्ञानिकता की उपस्थिति या बोध के बाद भी उनके प्रति निरन्तर, बाध्यकारी या अटूट विश्वास की स्थिति, प्रतिबद्धता, बाम्बारता या किसी आश्चर्यजनक घटना की सम्भावना और/या अनहोनी आशंका बोध की मानसिकता है।

Superstition is a mental state in which a normal or abnormal person or creature, despite realizing its inconsistency, inauthenticity, unscientific nature, and purposelessness, considers, believes, or feels that a belief is necessary, factual, and important for themselves and/or their surroundings, and maintains a constant, compulsive, or unwavering faith in it. The fear of something untoward and/or a miracle, a normal or expected event, further strengthens that belief.

In fact, no belief is considered superstitious merely because some people have formed a superstitious perception of it. Rather, in such a situation, unbiased and prejudice-free, constructive, positive, factual, necessary, practical, and scientific thinking is required. (1980)
